Closed beta

The closed beta has begun

The server is live and the Android client is on the download page behind a Groot ID. This is a test of sign-in, data and stability, not the opening of the world.

The server for Brave Frontier v2.19.6.0 is live. A patched client reaches it, signs in, creates an account and is handed the whole of the game's data from this world rather than from a mirror of the old one.

This is a test and not the opening. It is closed in the sense that the build sits behind a Groot ID rather than on an open link, not in the sense of a waiting list: what is being tested is the server, not how many people want on it.

What is under test is the boot: sign-in, account creation, data delivery, and whether an account is still there tomorrow. Battles, summoning and deck editing are not in this build. The notice published before this one lists exactly which parts answer and which are still stubs, and it is worth reading before you install anything.

To take part:

  • Sign in with a Groot ID. Any passport works, including one you already use for Sky Fang or RO Classic.
  • Take the Android build from the download page. The checksum is published beside it.
  • Install it on a real Android device rather than an emulator. Some emulator and GPU combinations black-screen this client before it makes a single network call, and the unmodified retail build black-screens identically on them, so it is not something this server can fix.

There is nothing to configure once it is installed. The client finds this server on its own, so there is no address to type and no login form inside the game: it signs itself in.

Which is also the part to understand before you get attached to anything. Your Groot ID gets you the build and nothing further; the game has never heard of it. Inside the client every device is handed the same guest account, so all testers are looking at one shared save. Separate accounts are not built, and while the beta is testing whether an account survives a restart, whose account it is has not been a question the server has had to answer yet.

Nothing earned in the beta carries over. The world is cleared before it opens properly, and that is announced with notice rather than sprung.

If something breaks, tell us what you did and what you expected instead. A report that can be repeated is worth more than a description of how it felt.

A notice that changes a published rate or an odds table is reflected on the server sheet as well, so the two can never disagree.
